Artist Statement
As an artist, ecological horticulturist, and advocate for our natural world, my work is rooted in the profound connection between nature and humanity. "Rooting for Nature, Rooting for Ourselves" is a celebration of this intrinsic bond, highlighting the symbiosis that exists between all living beings and the health of our environment, and a visual exploration that inspires environmental stewardship.
In this exhibition, I aim to bridge the human-nature divide by showcasing a collection of artworks that inspire reflection, action, and change. Each piece seeks to convey the important message that we are not separate from nature, but rather an integral part of it. The collection features woodburning on upcycled wood, acrylic paintings, and watercolor. Through these mediums, I seek to evoke a sense of wonder and responsibility, encouraging viewers to reimagine their relationship with the natural world.
My artistic journey has been shaped by a deep reverence for the environment, a profound curiosity about discovering and understanding the diverse species we share our planet with, and a desire to use art as a catalyst for positive change. By rooting for nature, we are, in essence, rooting for ourselves—acknowledging that our future is inextricably linked to the health of our precious ecosystems and biodiversity. It is my hope that this art show and talk will not only spark conversations but also inspire tangible actions that contribute to a more sustainable and harmonious world.
Thank you for joining me in this endeavor. Together, through art and action, we can tap into the transformative power of collective effort and mend the human-nature divide to save our planet.
