Black Earth Ceramics

I am an artist and art educator living in Rossland BC. We moved to this mountain town 5 years ago after spending a decade in Montreal where I studied ceramics and drawing at Concordia University, worked as an art educator and grew my art practice. My work is described as farmhouse funky pottery that features narrative, natural, and magical elements from my mythological world.

Solange Loiselle

Fellow Rosslanders, Christina and Owen Dargatz have moved to Lake Atitlàn, Guatemala with their five children. There, they have started an initiative called "Children for a Better San Juan." Once a week, they go out into the community with local children and their families to clean up garbage in the town and on the shores of the lake. This is followed by a nutritious home cooked meal for all participants. Christina and Owen are working towards the ultimate goal of building a plastics recycling facility and maker space where people from the area will be able to make brand new things put of old discarded plastic. All the proceeds of these beautiful bracelets, handmade in Guatemala, will go directly to support these projects. For more information, visit: www.thegivingexperiment.com

Art by Kimboho

Mixed media artist Kimberley Cutler, (@Artbykimboho), was born in 1996 and grew up in a rural area outside of Nelson, British Columbia, surrounded by nature. At a young age, Kimberley was drawn to the beauty of the natural landscapes and has continued to show this appreciation for nature in her artwork. In April of 2019, she picked up a paint brush for the first time in 6 years, and has been creating ripples in the Kootenays ever since. Kimberley's work holds intricate details that could easily hold your gaze for hours, while reminding you to slow down and enjoy the beautiful details in life. Looking through her work, you'll find mystical mindscapes, enchanted forests and whimsical valleys. These captivating, dazzling, and dreamy landscapes that she creates are overflowing with emotion and fantasies that will leave you with a sense of wonder. The texture and metallics in Kimberley’s Mindscapes are unlike any combination you've seen before, and are only truly experienced with your own eyes. Kimberley has created functional art, by incorporating a wide variety of media including high quality prints, insulated thermoses & water bottles, handmade earrings, sweaters & t-shirts, reusable tote bags, laser-cut wooden wall art, vinyl and many more.
