Veterans Week Writing Campaign

Join us in honouring our veterans and their legacy of peace this Remembrance season.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. Hostilities in Europe ended in May 1945, while the war officially ended with the Japanese surrender on September 2nd, 1945. More than a million Canadians (roughly 10% of Canada's population at the time) served in World War II between 1939 and 1945. Approximately 400 Rosslanders served in WWII, while countless more participated in the war efforts at home. The most common war effort activities that Rosslanders participated in were the A.R.P., rationing, salvaging, and purchasing victory bonds.

We are once again doing a community writing campaign to show Rossland's veterans our appreciation. Stop by the RMDC to write a postcard or colour a picture for us to send to our local veterans on Remembrance Day.

During Veterans Week (November 5-11), the RMDC will also have temporary exhibitions on Rossland's war effort in the J.D. McDonald Hall and at the Rossland Public Library.

If you would prefer to do this activity at home, you can download and print off the PDFs:

Make sure to drop off your finished letters and colouring pages at the RMDC to be delivered with the rest of the letters no later than November 5th.
