BC Heritage Week is coming up very soon, and the theme this year is “Where do you find heritage?”

The Museum will be open February 16th-20th by donation from 10am to 5pm.

We’ve created a fun online quiz for you to determine which Rossland heritage building/site you most identify with!

There are 15 buildings for you to seek out!

Send us your answers in the form below or email info@rosslandmuseum.ca before 12pm on Saturday, February 20th - Send or share a photo with us on social media of each of the buildings for a bonus entry (bonus per photo - up to 16 entries per family!). Building #1

Rossland's oldest standing building. Located on Columbia Ave, it served a variety of purposes over the years. Built by R. E. Lemon and once housed the Bank of Montreal during Rossland's “Great Bank Race."

Building #2

Although recognized as an early home to the Bank of Toronto, this building's purposes varied throughout the years. It survived BOTH great fires in 1927 and 1929.

Building #3

Once a famous local supply shop for groceries, fine goods, hardware and all assortments, this building has since been separated into several different store fronts.

Building #4

Still in professional use, this building emphasizes Victorian architecture through British character. The basement once housed the Museum & Library.

Site #5

Built in 1905 this site has “played” an important role in Rossland's sport history for over 100 years.

Building #6

Built in 1899, this two-storey building reflects the need for multi-purposing in a mining town, serving as a grocery store on the bottom and apartments on the top. Later, it housed a political office for the West Kootenay region and the Salvation Army.

Building #7

When entering Rossland off Highway 3B, this building is one of the first you will see. In the 1930s, it became the O.K. store.

Building #8

Once home to the Rossland Fire Hall, this building was purchased in 1911 and soon housed the “biggest furniture store in the Interior of B.C.”

Building #9

Built in 1905 by a local butcher, this building housed Rossland’s butcher shop for over 70 years.

Building #10

This building was designed by renowned architect F. M. Rattenbury after the “great bank race.”

Building #11

Once regarded as the “best hotel in the district,” this building is now home to Rossland’s pet store.

Building #12

For 40 years this building housed a grocery, mercantile, and dry goods store. Today it houses a popular inn.

Building #13

This fine building was constructed in 1900 to support Rossland’s growing need for fire safety.

Building #14

Despite having had many different owners, this building has remained a hotel since Rossland’s boom town days!

Building #15

This building was once home to BC’s telephone exchange and was very recently restored to its original brick glory!
