Rossland Golden City Days
We are celebrating Rossland's annual Golden City Days in a few ways this year!
Friday, September 7th to Sunday, September 9th
We are open 12pm to 5pm - Entry by Donation
Property Tours at 1pm and 3pm - followed by gold panning demonstrations
Saturday, September 8th
We'll be running an info booth at the Fall Fair in the Rossland Arena - 11am to 5pm.
We're bringing info on our fall programming, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, publications, and more. We'll also have our draft designs of the Renewal Project Phase Two - Mine Experience project!

Development in Rossland saw the arrival of many miners, but they were not the only ones that followed the call to striking it rich. There were other very important jobs running behind the scenes that were crucial to the development of the mines. Such as the Mine superintendents, like Patrick "Patsy" Clark, who bonded the lapsed War Eagle claim on Red Mountain and was rewarded by striking a huge gold vein. The Assayers job was critical to determining where rich and valuable mineral deposits may be located deep within the mine.
Without Assayers, mine owners would go bankrupt quickly as it was not economical for them to start digging tunnels without the reassurance of some profit. Diamond-drilling was the most common and most economical way to find out where these rich deposits laid. But how would they do this? What is a core sample? What would a mine manager's office look like in the early 1900s? What was the name of the assayer's office in Rossland? All of these questions can be answered by visiting the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre's new display located at Curiosity Clothing & Gifts to celebrate Rossland Golden City Days!
