The Atrium & Theatre
A new Atrium entrance space will be added to the east side of the existing museum building. In the Atrium, visitors are welcomed to the museum and community and provided clear information on the offerings of the RMDC, which helps them make clear choices about what they want to do and experience during their visit. When visitors enter the Atrium, they’ll see hints of iconic natural elements (including the entrance to the mine tunnel) which will draw them into the building to learn more. Through transparent walls between the atrium and the exhibit hall, visitors can see glimpses of the displays in the exhibit hall, encouraging them to explore further.
The Atrium will also include a new theatre space that can be expanded for public events (such as our monthly Speaker Series), space for travelling and temporary exhibits, as well as the Museum Shop and Visitor Centre.
