Checking In: A New Exhibit at the Prestige Mountain Resort

During its mining heyday, Rossland had close to 40 hotels. The hospitality industry was centred around Columbia Avenue or within a block or two of Rossland’s main street. These hotels housed guests and residents alike, since housing for upwards of 7,000 people was hard to come by in the growing town. From out-of-the-ordinary amenities such as bowling lanes, to an 80+ year legacy, to a rather explosive closure, stop by the Rossland Prestige to check-in to some of Rossland’s historic hotels!

Checking In: Rossland’s Historic Hotels explores the history and artifacts of three of Rossland’s early hotels - The War Eagle Inn, the Hoffman House, and the well-known Hotel Allan. With dozens of hotels to choose from, we struggled to narrow it down to these three hotels, but ultimately we let the artifacts in the collection guide this exhibit like we always do.

Checking In will be on location at the Prestige Mountain Resort from January 24th until mid-June.

A big thanks to Jesse and the team at the Prestige for always giving us a space to share unique Rossland stories with you in downtown Rossland! We couldn’t do our outreach exhibit program without amazing community partners like the Prestige!
