When we heard that Golden City Days was happening this year, we couldn’t wait to put together our annual Golden City Days exhibit at Curiosity Clothing & Gifts! While summer is quickly coming to an end, the summer fashions featured in this year’s exhibit are a must-see! From the high collars and long skirts of the early 1900s to the bell-bottom silhouettes of the 1960s and 1970s, fashion has continued to change since Rossland was founded in 1897. Veterans Week 2021 at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre

This year marks the 102nd observance of a day of remembrance. The first occurred in 1919, one year after the hostilities of the First World War ended. A mere 21 years later, the world would be thrown into chaos once again as World War II was declared on 1 September 1939. Rosslanders made up over 600 of the 1.6 million Canadians that served in these two global conflicts. Countless more would volunteer at home, contributing however they could. This ranged from rationing, to salvage committees, to helping with the local A.R.P. (air raid precautions) chapter.
