Rockin' Around the Rossland Museum: Holiday Plans & Santa's Workshop

Drop by the Museum between 12 and 4 pm on Saturday, December 23rd to help out Santa's elves for the day! We'll be making toys, crafting Christmas decorations, and enjoying some festive games, yummy treats, and holiday films.
We are open through the holidays! Regular hours: Tuesdays to Sundays, 10 am to 6 pm. We will be closed December 24-26 and December 31-January 1st.

PRESS RELEASE - Digitizing Rossland’s Documentary Heritage

With a major grant of $45,250 from the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Digital Access to History grant program and a supporting grant of $2104.60 from the Columbia Basin Trust’s Resident Directed Grants, the RMDC will be able to digitize a large portion of its vast collection of film and audio materials, ensuring that future generations have access to these valuable cultural artifacts.

When we heard that Golden City Days was happening this year, we couldn’t wait to put together our annual Golden City Days exhibit at Curiosity Clothing & Gifts! While summer is quickly coming to an end, the summer fashions featured in this year’s exhibit are a must-see! From the high collars and long skirts of the early 1900s to the bell-bottom silhouettes of the 1960s and 1970s, fashion has continued to change since Rossland was founded in 1897. Autonomous Sinixt MOU

On Friday, February 4th, representatives of Autonomous Sinixt signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre. The Museum commits to protect and preserve cultural assets and share traditions from the Autonomous Sinixt perspective. The partnership includes the Museum becoming a "Designated Repository" for the care, storage, and possible display of Sinixt artefacts, contemporary objects such as works of art, and other materials.

Veterans Week 2021 at the Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre

This year marks the 102nd observance of a day of remembrance. The first occurred in 1919, one year after the hostilities of the First World War ended. A mere 21 years later, the world would be thrown into chaos once again as World War II was declared on 1 September 1939. Rosslanders made up over 600 of the 1.6 million Canadians that served in these two global conflicts. Countless more would volunteer at home, contributing however they could. This ranged from rationing, to salvage committees, to helping with the local A.R.P. (air raid precautions) chapter.
