February Strawberry Tea

Join us for the February edition of our monthly Strawberry Tea seniors' program. This month, we'll be at the Rossland Seniors Hall on Tuesday, February 25th from 12pm-2:30pm.
This is a fun monthly event geared towards seniors (but all are welcome) with tea, coffee by Seven Summits Coffee Company and treats with lots of time to chat and check out some interesting photos and objects from the collection.

The museum will be bringing some curious artifacts and photographs for you to view up close. This month will be focused on the Mystery of the 50's! We have heaps of photographs with no names or information - Help us out if you can!

For those with the school day off on February 14th, we’ve organized a full day of fun activities to celebrate Valentine’s Day through science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM)!
Weather permitting, we’ll also take advantage of the snow adventures outside with the snow maze, sledding snow stompers, and snow painting.

Winter Carnival Activities at the Museum

The museum will be open by donation for our regular hours from 11am to 5pm on Friday & Saturday. Both days, come enjoy our sledding hills (some sleds, crazy carpets, and snow stompers on hand), snow painting, a snowshoe loop, a snow-maze, and kids' snow races each afternoon. Come inside to warm up with crafternoons and some hot drinks and treats. On Saturday, we'll also have our annual snowman-making competition and cabane à sucre and/or RSVP for a special snowshoe and snow science tour with Kootenay Gateway here: http://evite.me/Dpk8HuysAV All ages are welcome to have fun in our snowy paradise.

For our November Speaker Series, we are lucky to host Wayne Wilson on November 19th, from 6:30 pm.

For hundreds of years, travellers have been recording their journeys - written about them, painted them, sketched them, scrap-booked them, and more. These informal accounts often capture the 'essence of place'. They record the sights and sounds and tastes and smells of distinct places in time.

Your travels are just as important! This brief workshop/talk will help you see the value of your travels in a whole new light. In the end, you will have a list of materials and you will have a whole new appreciation for the value of what you see when you travel.

Adult Night at the Museum

Come and enjoy a spooktacular evening: an Adult Night at the Museum. We will be featuring two talented guests: Nadine Wilcox, a Psychic Medium having recently relocated to Rossland and has been doing private readings, events, fairs, and parties for 20 years. Nadine will lead our guests on an hour long walk through the museum and the historic Black Bear Mine site, reading the space and artifacts, invoking spirits so that they may share their experiences with you!

Finish your evening with Tyler Austin Bradley narrating a mini Spooky Story series. After working on a film project - "Haunted Hills - Supernatural Rossland," Tyler has gathered a number of ghost stories about Rossland. It's your turn to hear what mysteries lie in our mountains.
